At
870,000 square feet, the Los Angeles Convention Center
is one of the largest exhibition halls in the world.
It's two huge exhibit areas are flanked by two towers
(West Tower and South Tower) all clad in reflective
glass. The 155-foot-tall towers are empty spaces offering
visitors a welcome, if unnecessary,
sense of space in an already huge building. The entire
affair is joined at the center by a link of meeting
halls hovering above Pico Boulevard. The convention
center's web site sums up the project with this jingoistic
lyric, "There is only one Los Angeles, and only one
Los Angeles Convention Center. Step into the future,
it is beyond all of your expectations."
