I agree with you, Mary. I used to own a condominium at 2016 Main on the downtown side, and the old Holiday Inn, Central Bank, and Savoy Houston are three buildings that need to be redeveloped or demolished. I remember back in the mid-1970s, my family stayed in the Holiday Inn downtown, and it was a really nice hotel. After Days Inn took over, it started going downhill. When the Maharishi bought it, that's when it hit rock bottom. What horrid stories I heard. Squatters, safety violations, no air conditioning, and so on.I have my fingers crossed for a new investor to take possession and actually DO SOMETHING with it.

It's sold again to New Era Hospitality! It was one of the three vacant buildings I'm sick of seeing around 2016 MAIN! It seems like it gets a little uglier every day and blocks the view of the city from my building. The last buyer who defaulted said he would turn it from a ugly duckling to a swan. I HOPE THEY MAKE IT BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE I HAVE TO LOOK AT IT!
